(Calgary, Alberta)  Meridian Merchant Capital Canada Ltd. today announced that company President and CEO Keith Turner has been nominated for the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Prairie Region.

This is the third nomination for Mr. Turner as he was previously nominated in the Pacific Region in 1999 and 2000.

“It’s of course a great honor to be recognized in this way, but any success we’ve achieved in our first three years here at Meridian has been the result of a phenomenal team effort among our people, clients, and capital sources,” commented Turner.  “I accept this nomination on all their behalf.”

Meridian focuses on assisting and financing, established, growth-oriented mid-market companies, either seeking to expand, change ownership or make acquisitions, and its business model often resonates most with entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial companies.

“We want smaller companies to have the access to “Fortune 500” quality merchant banking expertise and experience. In fact, in our experience, even entrepreneurs running large companies don’t have the support and access to capital they really need and deserve” added Turner. “We formed Meridian to fill that gap”

Prairie region nominees will gather Tuesday, June 24 for the Nominees & Judges. Reception at the Sheraton Eau Claire in Calgary.  Finalists will be honored at the Awards Gala on October 21, 2008 at Telus Convention Centre.
